Looks reasonable to replace assignment to nEndField from USHRT_MAX with -1 in ImpEditEngine::AddPortionIterated (editeng/source/editeng/impedit4.cxx). This apparently needs to just be an arbitrary value that EditPaM::GetIndex() will never have. Looks like 3cbfcee36dd16e451d76c561eaaaee0ff29b01a5 "xub_StrLen and tools/string.hxx final straw" missed that (as that commit's message acknowledges).
