2021-12-10Generally determine Rdb content from gb_*_set_componentfile callsStephan Bergmann
...instead of by listing the content somewhat redundantly in the Rdb_*.mk files, to avoid duplication of logic for components that are only built conditionally (and thus should only be included conditionally in the corresponding Rdb). To achieve that, add an "rdb" parameter to gb_ComponentTarget_ComponentTarget (and to the gb_*_set_componentfile macros that internally call gb_ComponentTarget_ComponentTarget), which is used to make the appropriate gb_Rdb_add_component call internally from within gb_ComponentTarget_ComponentTarget. (As a special case, gb_CppunitTest_set_componentfile shall not call gb_Rdb_add_component, as that has already been done by the corresponding gb_Library_set_componentfile call, so allow the gb_ComponentTarget_ComponentTarget "rdb" parameter to be empty to support that special case.) Most Rdb_*.mk files are thus mostly empty now. One exception is i18npool/Rdb_saxparser.mk, which duplicates some of the Rdb_services content as needed during the build in CustomTarget_i18npool/localedata. 1c9a40299d328c78c035ca63ccdf22c5c669a03b "gbuild: create services.rdb from built components" had already tried to do something similar (in addition to other things) under a new --enable-services-rdb-from-build option. However, that approach had four drawbacks that this approach here addresses (and which thus partly reverts 1c9a40299d328c78c035ca63ccdf22c5c669a03b): 1 Rdb_services shall not contain the component files of all libraries that are built. While that commit filtered out the component files that go into Rdb_ure/services (ure/Rdb_ure.mk), it failed to filter out the component files that go into others like Rdb_postgresql-sdbc (connectivity/Rdb_postgresql-sdbc.mk). 2 The code added by that commit to Makefile.gbuild codified the knowledge that there is an Rdb_services, which is brittle. 3 The code added by that commit to solenv/gbuild/Rdb.mk codified the knowledge (for gb_Rdb__URECOMPONENTS) that there is an Rdb_ure/services, which is brittle. 4 Introducing an --enable-services-rdb-from-build option needlessly provided two different ways how the content of Rdb_services is assembled. The changes done here would leave --enable-services-rdb-from-build as a misnomer, as it no longer controls how Rdb_services is assembled. I thus renamed it to --enable-customtarget-components, as that is apparently what it still does now. 2021-04-07Updated README.md files to represent current code / use Markdown formatHossein
Previously, all of the README files have been renamed to README.md and now, the contents of these files were changed to use Markdown format. Other than format inconsistency, some README.md files lacked information about modules, or were out of date. By using LibreOffice / OpenOffice wiki and other documentation websites, these files were updated. Now every README.md file has a title, and some description. The top-level README.md file is changed to add links to the modules. Cases where free functions were moved into an unnamed namespace along with a class, to not break ADL, are in: filter/source/svg/svgexport.cxx sc/source/filter/excel/xelink.cxx sc/source/filter/excel/xilink.cxx svx/source/sdr/contact/viewobjectcontactofunocontrol.cxx All other free functions mentioning moved classes appear to be harmless and not give rise to (silent, even) ADL breakage. (One remaining TODO in compilerplugins/clang/external.cxx is that derived classes are not covered by computeAffectedTypes, even though they could also be affected by ADL-breakage--- but don't seem to be in any acutal case across the code base.) For friend declarations using elaborate type specifiers, like class C1 {}; class C2 { friend class C1; }; * If C2 (but not C1) is moved into an unnamed namespace, the friend declaration must be changed to not use an elaborate type specifier (i.e., "friend C1;"; see C++17 [namespace.memdef]/3: "If the name in a friend declaration is neither qualified nor a template-id and the declaration is a function or an elaborated-type-specifier, the lookup to determine whether the entity has been previously declared shall not consider any scopes outside the innermost enclosing namespace.") * If C1 (but not C2) is moved into an unnamed namespace, the friend declaration must be changed too, see <https://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=71882> "elaborated-type-specifier friend not looked up in unnamed namespace". Apart from that, to keep changes simple and mostly mechanical (which should help avoid regressions), out-of-line definitions of class members have been left in the enclosing (named) namespace. But explicit specializations of class templates had to be moved into the unnamed namespace to appease <https://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=92598> "explicit specialization of template from unnamed namespace using unqualified-id in enclosing namespace". Also, accompanying declarations (of e.g. typedefs or static variables) that could arguably be moved into the unnamed namespace too have been left alone. And in some cases, mention of affected types in blacklists in other loplugins needed to be adapted. And sc/qa/unit/mark_test.cxx uses a hack of including other .cxx, one of which is sc/source/core/data/segmenttree.cxx where e.g. ScFlatUInt16SegmentsImpl is not moved into an unnamed namespace (because it is declared in sc/inc/segmenttree.hxx), but its base ScFlatSegmentsImpl is. GCC warns about such combinations with enabled-by-default -Wsubobject-linkage, but "The compiler doesn’t give this warning for types defined in the main .C file, as those are unlikely to have multiple definitions." (<https://gcc.gnu.org/onlinedocs/gcc-9.2.0/gcc/Warning-Options.html>) The warned-about classes also don't have multiple definitions in the given test, so disable the warning when including the .cxx. See the mail thread starting at <https://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/libreoffice/2017-January/076665.html> "Dynamic Exception Specifications" for details. Most changes have been done automatically by the rewriting loplugin:dynexcspec (after enabling the rewriting mode, to be committed shortly). The way it only removes exception specs from declarations if it also sees a definition, it identified some dead declarations-w/o-definitions (that have been removed manually) and some cases where a definition appeared in multiple include files (which have also been cleaned up manually). There's also been cases of macro paramters (that were used to abstract over exception specs) that have become unused now (and been removed). Furthermore, some code needed to be cleaned up manually (avmedia/source/quicktime/ and connectivity/source/drivers/kab/), as I had no configurations available that would actually build that code. Missing @throws documentation has not been applied in such manual clean-up. The issue of 362d4f0cd4e50111edfae9d30c90602c37ed65a2 "Explicitly mark overriding destructors as 'virtual'" appears to no longer be a problem with MSVC 2013. (The little change in the rewriting code of compilerplugins/clang/override.cxx was necessary to prevent an endless loop when adding "override" to OOO_DLLPUBLIC_CHARTTOOLS virtual ~CloseableLifeTimeManager(); in chart2/source/inc/LifeTime.hxx, getting stuck in the leading OOO_DLLPUBLIC_CHARTTOOLS macro. I had to drop XEventBroadcaster from the merged interface because it introduced method name conflicts (addEventListener). Shouldn't be an issue since it was scheduled to be dropped anyhow, and the service implementation still implements it, so existing clients will be fine. I dropped the interface XPropertySet from the combined IDL because nobody seems to be using it, and it's primary purpose appears to be to set weird flags. I dropped the optional interfaces XStatusIndicatorFactory XDispatchInformationProvider from the combined IDL because the service does not implement them, and nobody seems to be using them. I suspect they were mistakenly copied from XFrame. I also did not convert the Title, UserDefinedAttributes and LayoutManager properties to attributes, again because no-one is using them.
