The documentation for ExitThread [1] has this comment:
A thread in an executable that calls the C run-time library (CRT) should use
the _beginthreadex and _endthreadex functions for thread management rather
than CreateThread and ExitThread; this requires the use of the multithreaded
version of the CRT. If a thread created using CreateThread calls the CRT,
the CRT may terminate the process in low-memory conditions.
Since ~all our code uses CRT, be safe and use _beginthreadex.

...so that its TOOLS_WARN_EXCEPTION can be used in
comphelper/source/misc/logging.cxx in a follow-up commit. (And while at it,
rename from diangose_ex.h to the more appropriate diagnose_ex.hxx. The
comphelper module is sufficiently low-level for this immediate use case, so use
that at least for now; o3tl might be even more suitable but doesn't have a
Library until now. Also, for the immediate use case it would have sufficed to
only break DbgGetCaughtException, exceptionToString, TOOLS_WARN_EXCEPTION,
TOOLS_WARN_EXCEPTION_IF, and TOOLS_INFO_EXCEPTION out of
include/tools/diagnose_ex.h into an additional new
include/comphelper/diagnose_ex.hxx, but its probably easier overall to just move
the complete include file as is.)

... by moving it into ImplCreate(DragSource|DropTarget).
The existing Create* variant now checks for headless mode and the
IsRunningUnitTest flag, before creating the platform variants.
There are two small helpers to initialize either X11 or Ole based
UNO DnD interace implementations.
Unfortunatly Windows requires to move two dtrans header files, but
at least any other changes are minimal.

There is nothing abstract about either the clipboard or data
transfer code in that directory and it's just used on Windows.
All other backends implement this code in VCL, so this moves
almost all code, except for the common MimeContentTypeFactory,
into the vcl Windows backend / vclplug_win.
This also drops four DLLs: sysdtrans, dnd, dtrans and ftransl.
