<paragraph role="paragraph" id="par_id651705514526491">Spotlighting paragraphs styles allows a better control of the application of paragraph styles in the document.</paragraph>

<paragraph role="paragraph" id="par_id181705509762659">Paragraph spotlight displays a color and a unique number code for each applied paragraph style in the document. The color and number are also displayed in the corresponding paragraph entry in the <menuitem>Styles</menuitem> deck on the sidebar.</paragraph>
<note id="par_id371705509091105">Paragraph styles are not given a color and number until they are applied in the document.</note>
<paragraph role="paragraph" id="par_id971705509770048"> in addition to the color and unique number assigned to the style, paragraphs with paragraph direct formatting attributes are indicated with a hash pattern in the visual indicator on the left margin.</paragraph>
<tip id="par_id21705518127906">When the extended tips features is enabled in <switchinline select="sys"><caseinline select="MAC"><menuitem>%PRODUCTNAME - Preferences</menuitem></caseinline><defaultinline><menuitem>Tools – Options</menuitem></defaultinline></switchinline><menuitem> – LibreOffice – General</menuitem>, a tooltip shows the style name and many attributes of the style applied.</tip>

<paragraph role="paragraph" id="par_id221705510181740">Character properties are not attributes of paragraph direct formatting properties, therefore character styles and character direct formatting does not affect paragraph spotlighting.</paragraph>
